South Shore Branding Photos Lindsay Hite Photography

I just recently met up with intuitive counselor and energy healer, Maureen Mann for a South Shore branding portrait session on Rexhame Beach in Marshfield, Massachusetts. It was such an honor to help Maureen express her spirit and expertise through these portraits for her business. I’m so pleased she asked me to be her photographer!

An early morning Rexhame Beach Portrait Session

When Maureen and I arrived at Rexhame Beach before sunrise, it was cloaked in fog. You couldn’t even see the ocean. The morning fog gradually lifted but it lingered for a while and came in and out, almost like the waves of the ocean. We chose this beach because it was important to her throughout her life and holds a lot of deep personal meaning.

I was really inspired by the work Maureen does with her clients:

“As a Holistic Psychotherapist, I incorporate a unique blend of energy healing, intuitive guidance and counseling into my practice. Integrating these modalities allows my clients to facilitate deep, rapid changes in their lives. I truly enjoy and feel privileged supporting people who are ready to experience transformative growth in their lives. Integral aspects of my work are helping people see their unique gifts and foster in them a sense of resiliency and self-efficacy.”

Each year, Maureen has climbed the rock at Rexhame Beach as a tradition of sorts. During our portrait session, when she climbed the rock, the fog was thick, and there was no sunshine. I asked Maureen to pause, close her eyes and breathe–being present in this moment and place. And when she did, the sun broke through the clouds behind her, and waves crashed. It was a powerful moment manifesting in nature, and it felt symbolic of harnessing one’s own energy and power –much like the work that Maureen does with her clients.

In a bit of a contrast with the powerful moment on the rocks, this portrait session also had a hilarious blooper. See, people love to walk their dogs on the beach in the morning. One of the dogs wanted to come over to say “hi” to us. He made a beeline for us and did his business right where we were set up for a portrait! Maureen and I both cracked up and couldn’t stop laughing!

It’s the little things like this that remind you not to take yourself or life too seriously.

Maureen, thank you for inviting me to work with you to create these amazing photographs for your business. It was such an honor to be your photographer for this South Shore branding session!

The Gardens at Elm Bank Wedding: Lindsey & Gabe’s Elegant Modern Wedding

In my years as a wedding photographer, I have seen many amazing weddings. But every so often, a wedding will really surprise me. Sometimes, a wedding will come together to be a stunning experience—not only to photograph, but to attend. That was the case for Lindsey and Gabe’s elegant, modern wedding at the Gardens at Elm Bank. No detail was overlooked. Their garden wedding was, in a word, exquisite.

Lindsey & Gabe’s Gardens at Elm Bank Wedding

Lindsey and Gabe live in Brooklyn, NY and have close friends from throughout their lives. These friendship range in age from childhood, to college, to their amazing adventures abroad. On their wedding day, they were surrounded by love, support and celebration.

Lindsey and Gabe were both raised near Boston, MA. So, it was fitting to return here to celebrate their marriage and treat their guests to an amazing experience! Their Boston wedding venue, the Gardens at Elm Bank, was such an amazing backdrop to create the elegant wedding of their dreams. Transformed by the talented planners at Whim Events, the gorgeous tent was decorated in such a way that it was elegant, luxurious and classic.

Whim Events shared some thoughts on how the plan for the event evolved to create this timeless garden party:

“A wedding at the Gardens at Elm Bank never fails to disappoint, but Lindsey & Gabe’s natural, yet modern wedding was literally one of our most special weddings to plan. While their vision for the wedding was initially “rustic”, they wanted to ensure it was also elegant, timeless, natural, and truly reflected Lindsey & Gabe as a couple.”

Of course, the best part about being the photographer for this wedding was the opportunity to capture the love that Lindsey and Gabe share. Gabe loves the way Lindsey is so committed to their relationship and how loved she makes him feel. Lindsey says Gabe is everything to her, her best friend- they have so much fun together. He has a smile that lights up the room- and you can see that in their photographs!

An Elegant Outdoor Wedding

Some of my favorite moments of the wedding day happened early in the day, in the quiet moments before the party really got started. Like when Lindsey and her mom, Deena, took a quiet moment, looking in the mirror to soak in all that had led them to this moment. It was a touching moment between mother and daughter where they could quietly reflect on the day ahead and all the love in store.

Lindsey and Gabe shared an emotional first look. I loved the sheer joy on their faces when Lindsey came up behind him. Then, Bodie, their Instagram-famous dog joined his ‘mom’ and ‘dad’ for portraits. I loved the energy that Bodie brought to the couple’s portraits. I’m so happy that they could include him in their day!

This wedding was filled with amazing experiences for the bride, groom and their loved ones. It was clear that Lindsey and Gabe wanted to have an elegant event that truly put the focus on creating a timeless event. When they arrived, guests were offered pedicab rides down to the ceremony where they sipped wine under their very own personal parasols.

After a beautiful ceremony, Lindsey and Gabe were whisked away from the ceremony in their own pedicab, with their family and friends behind them. An elegant dinner was served in the tent, impeccably decorated by Whim Events. And once the dancing started… it didn’t stop. I love a good dance party! I especially loved the excitement and energy of the Hora. Lindsey and Gabe never stopped smiling. As a surprise at the end of the night, they had the Cookie Monstah Truck show up. What a fun idea for gifts and favors!

Lindsey, Gabe, thank you for asking me to be a part of your amazing garden wedding. I loved capturing your love. Thank you also to Stephen Whiting for being there as my second photographer to capture this beautiful Boston wedding.

Arnold Arboretum Fur Family Portraits Lindsay Hite Photography

It was a gorgeous summer day when I got to meet up with this amazing couple to capture their family portraits at the Arnold Arboretum. Nick and I grew up together in elementary school through high school, and it was such an honor to be asked to help him and Luke celebrate the start of their life together as a married couple.

Nick and Luke’s Fur Family Portraits at Arnold Arboretum

Nick and Luke are both incredibly hardworking and dedicated to their careers in the medical field, which require a ton of their time and energy. However; they make their loved ones a priority in their lives. When they are together, they are totally present and enjoy each other’s company. They really make the most of the small parts of their schedule when they can spend time with each other, and their beautiful pup, Murphy. Nick and Luke moved to Boston from Baltimore, and Murphy made the journey with them. He adores them. I love seeing fur families totally connect with each other.

We went to one of their favorite places to spend time as a family, Arnold Arboretum. The Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University is such an amazing place for portraits with its acres of frees, vines, and lush green plants. With how beautiful it is, it was no surprise that Nick, Luke and Murphy enjoyed spending time there. The way the summer light filtered through the trees was just perfect. At one point during their family portrait session, I decided to step back and just observe them in the beautiful space together, walking and talking. Seeing them just naturally interacting together as a fur family was one of my favorite moments.

It’s these in-between moments of catching up, being quiet and taking in the joy of life together that makes everything worthwhile. Of course, Murphy has so much joyful and affectionate energy for his dads. The photography session was punctuated by his big doggy smiles and his happiness. There’s nothing better than a happy pup enjoying the great outdoors with his favorite humans.

Nick and Luke, it was such a pleasure to document your love. I am so happy I was able to be the photographer for your fur family session!

Warehouse XI Wedding Lindsay Hite Photography

On a gorgeous summer day, Marit and John were married with a ceremony and reception at Warehouse XI in Somerville, and wedding portraits in Prospect Hill Park. I love being a wedding photographer, and it was such a joy to photograph this event for them as they became husband and wife.

Marit & John’s Warehouse XI Wedding

Friends and family are so important to Marit and John. They wanted to spend their wedding day eating food they love, drinking delicious drinks and having excellent conversations with the most important people in their lives. Everything about the wedding was planned with their guests experience in mind.

I started the day with Marit as she got ready. Then, we made our way to Prospect Hill Park for a first look and wedding portraits. One of my favorite moments of the day was Marit climbing the tower in Prospect Hill Park to see John for the first time at the top of the hill. This is their favorite place in their neighborhood, and they wanted to share a moment before their ceremony looking out over their city together, and soaking in the amazingness of the day.

Their wedding venue, Warehouse XI, is unlike any other Boston wedding venue. It has these amazing white-painted brick walls and soaring windows that let the light in. The venue is the perfect backdrop to design a wedding unique to you. Marit and John’s wedding planner, Cristen from Cristen & Co, did an amazing job designing their event. There were so many fun details that Marit and John incorporated to entertain and delight their guests. They included drawing materials on the tables and they even brought a popsicle truck indoors for deserts! What a perfect addition for a summer wedding! Everything about the wedding was crafted to celebrate their life together.

Marit and John snuck away during the reception to do a shot together at their favorite bar. I love that they wanted to step away from the party for a second to say “hi” to their favorite bartender and toast to life! They shared many evenings at that bar together over the years on their journey, and this felt so fitting.

As a lasting testimony to their wedding day, I love the wedding album that we created. The rich blue of the cover looks so rich. I am sure that these photographs and the joy that they document will be enjoyed for many years to come. Marit, John, thank you for inviting me into your lives and asking me to be present in such an important day. It was a pleasure to be your wedding photographer. Thank you also to my second shooter, Gina Brocker, for helping me to document this beautiful Boston wedding day.

Immunogen Business Headshots Lindsay Hite Photography

Last year, I was approached by ImmunoGen, Inc during their rebranding process and tasked to create genuine, candid-feeling, fresh portraits for their employees. They wanted to give their employees new headshots that they would be proud to use on across their social media channels. The goal was to create portraits that truly captured the energy, dedication and heart of the amazing people that make up this company.

Immunogen Headquarters and Cyclorama in the South End

ImmunoGen, Inc. is a biotechnology company focused on the development of antibody-drug conjugate therapeutics for the treatment of cancer. They reached out to me when they were about to do their brand re-launch with a big, exciting project! They came to me with an idea:

“We want to make portraits of all of our 300 employees during our big brand launch party. You have two hours.”

Challenge accepted!

I contacted the best of the best Boston photographers from the photo community here in Boston to make this happen. I reached out to Doug Levy to bounce ideas off of him, reached out to expert Digital Tech Alex Jones and went to work.

Boston Headshot Photography

I had done headshots many times before, both on-site in offices and hosting clients at my photo studio to create a strong portrait, but this was unique.

I assembled a team of 15 to have onsite that day. We had six photo stations for employees to come in and have their portrait taken. We did the math and figured out exactly how many were needed to accommodate the number of people we needed to photograph. Once photographed, the employees chose their favorite portrait on site. We had six photographers including myself, paired with six digital technicians, making sure the file download process was smooth and the images were consistently superb quality. To manage the process, I also had one general assistant helping the flow and to be able to react quickly to supply anything needed.

We also had BostonGIF on site for some entertainment value. They had two booths with two attendants. GIFs from the booths projected on big screens, constantly refreshing. It was such a fun way for the attendees to be able to interact with each other!

I love going back to ImmunoGen’s headquarters on a quarterly basis to provide their new hires with the same high-quality business portrait experience, just on a smaller scale. It’s an incredible honor to work with a company doing such important work, and it was truly a challenge I welcomed to have the opportunity to work with an incredible crew. We gave the employees an experience they won’t forget.

Haymakers For Hope Lindsay Hite Photography

Photographing weddings and photographing families is something that brings me joy. There’s something about capturing moments of emotion and joy that fuels my creative passion. So whenever I have an opportunity to photograph personal transformation, dedication, and women tapping into their own power, I am thrilled to participate. So any time I have an opportunity to partner with Haymakers for Hope to photograph their events and their fighters, I am happy to do so.

Haymakers for Hope is a charity like no other charity, giving men and women a chance to fight back against cancer. As they share on their website, “We give everyday men and women the chance to fight back against this terrible disease by training for, and competing in charity boxing events to raise money and awareness.” In their eight years of hard work, their fighters and their donors have raised over 10.5 million dollars for cancer research.

Fighting Cancer with Haymakers for Hope

I have had the privilege of working with Haymakers for Hope to provide photography for a few years now. In fact, this past fall I was asked to photograph their event, Belles of the Brawl. Seeing the strength and courage of the everyday men and women who push themselves to new levels of strength and courage is an incredible thing to witness. I began documenting the training journey of the fighters as they prepare for fight night to gain more insight into who they are and what drives them.

It has been so inspiring to witness fighters Colleen Shouldice and Vanessa Baca as they train for the big night. I’ve seen their speed, focus, strength and overall confidence grow so much over the last few months. More than anything, it’s a privilege to help tell their stories as they push past what they thought was possible, and prove to themselves they can do whatever they set their minds to.

Photographing two Training Journeys

Colleen and Vanessa have spent the last four months training for Haymakers for Hope. Fight night is on May 15 at House of Blues Boston.

Colleen is training out of Nolan Bros Boxing in Waltham, MA. She is a Project Engineer during the day, and is driven to succeed in every aspect of her life. I had the opportunity to speak with her parents about how dedicated Colleen has always been to doing her absolute best and diving head first into new challenges. She played on an elite hockey team her senior year of high school. It required her to live away from home, and she still managed to be top of her class in academics. Colleen wanted to take her drive and passion for competition and use it to bring awareness and funding to an amazing cause.

Vanessa’s focus and dedication is amazing to watch. Vanessa is fighting for her mom: her ultimate inspiration. When she was a teenager, she witnessed her mother fighting cancer and getting up, ready for the next round and never missing a beat in life. She has always been there for her kids, and Vanessa wanted to be there for people who are strong like her mom, and to raise money for research to conquer cancer so one day, hopefully, people won’t have to fight anymore.

Both women are so grateful for their amazing families, and cite them as their number one support system that keeps them going. The outpouring of support from friends, family and colleagues has allowed them to raise over $30k combined!!

Both Vanessa and Colleen have put in incredible effort into training, and no matter the outcome, they are both champions because they have conquered this amazing feat. It’s been such a pleasure and privilege to document this journey and I can’t wait to see the big fight this week.

Hotel Commonwealth Boston Wedding Lindsay Hite Photography

Last August, I had a fantastic time as the wedding photographer for Luri and Chris at their Hotel Commonwealth wedding in Boston, MA. This wedding was both modern as well as traditional, which beautiful Korean elements from the bride’s heritage. I’m so glad I got to be a part of it!

Luri & Chris’s Hotel Commonwealth Wedding in Boston, MA

Luri and Chris have such a beautiful connection. They truly have grown up together! Their friendship and young love have grown into a rock solid foundation for a supportive and loving partnership. They have given themselves the freedom to pursue their careers and yet, they have remained each other’s best friend through it all. Their first look was so sweet and genuine as their joy and elation at seeing each other spread across their faces in huge smiles.

Family is very important to both of them. Throughout the wedding, they were able to pay tribute to their families in both large and small ways. Chris had a sprig of Rosemary tucked into his boutonniere, honoring his late mother. And with Luri’s dad seeing her for the first time, and her hugs with her mom right after she put her dress on, I almost lost it! You can definitely see the love Luri’s parents have for her in these photographs. And I thought it was amazing how Luri was able to pay homage to her heritage with all of the traditional Korean elements this wedding had to offer!

The wedding was hosted at Hotel Commonwealth, which is very close to the campus where Luri and Chris met and fell in love, Boston University. Chris’ father was actually on the faculty there. Hotel Commonwealth is a gorgeous hotel right next to the iconic Kenmore Square. The architecture is signature to Boston and the amenities are fantastic! It’s definitely a prime spot for any and all wedding events.

There were traditional Korean geese placed at the ceremony, and then afterward, they were moved into the reception, where each guest had their own Mandarin duck place card. Mandarin ducks are used in Korean wedding ceremonies due to the belief that Mandarin ducks mate for life. I thought that was a really nice touch with keeping the wedding traditional.

When it was time to get up and dance, you better believe this family knew how to have a party! There was a custom neon sign on the dance floor and the walls were illuminated with violet lighting. It was elegant and modern and really brought good vibes to the reception. Luri and Chris both even had their own signature cocktails! Luri, who is a dentist, had the ‘Rinse & Spritz’. Chris practices law, so of course his cocktail was dubbed the ‘Esquire’.

Another fun activity was their Gif Booth from BostonGIF. It was such a fun, unique interactive activity for the guests at the wedding. It really captured the energy of the event and gave guests a way to instantly share the moments from the wedding.

All in all, this was a beautiful wedding full of tender moments and happy people. Thank you to my amazing second shooter, Gina Marie Brocker for helping me to document this wonderful wedding. And I also need to thank Sarah from Brilliant Event Planning. She was fabulous to work with and pulled off the couple’s vision for their wedding day flawlessly. It’s so wonderful to be able to work with such amazing Boston wedding vendors.

Chris and Luri, I wish you both the very best that life has to offer, and I can’t wait to see where the future takes you! Cheers, you two!

Minneapolis Forever Session Lindsay Hite Photography

In the colder months, I got to meet up with Scott and Michelle to capture a Forever Session in Minneapolis, MN. These two are such a lovely couple. It was such a pleasure to get out with them, enjoy the day, and document their love.

Michelle & Scott’s Minneapolis Forever Session

Michelle and Scott have a beautiful balance of playfulness and organization between them. They love to bring out the joy and silliness in each other, but they are also super organized parents who create a home of love and support for Scott’s daughter.

They both just have this wonderful, lively, kid-like energy when they are together. While they both work extremely hard in their careers, they also love to get away to carve out time to recharge and focus on what matters most — family.

March in Minneapolis is still pretty cold. The skies were grey for the day of their Forever Session, but that didn’t stop this couple from having such a good time together. I love the photo of Scott picking up Michelle, spinning her around and catching her by surprise! That’s one of the best parts about photography: the ability to stop time for a moment, to capture the joy and happiness in one happy memory and to preserve it for them to enjoy for years to come.

When Michelle and Scott first got in touch, they sent me their favorite photo of themselves from a tropical vacation. They were both making hilarious faces! I could tell having a sense of humor was important to them and I was dying to see some of these signature looks in person. Needless to say, Scott and Michelle did not disappoint! They had such a fun energy all throughout our time together. The casual, carefree way that these two connect was so easy to capture.

After a day of walking around Minneapolis taking photographs, we went back to their home and cuddled up with their pup. Even their dog was photogenic.

After their session, together, we designed a piece for their home, showcasing some of their favorite photographs from their Forever Session. I’m so happy that they will be able to draw upon this reminder of love, support and joyful silliness whenever life and work get crazy (which it does)!

Michelle and Scott — keep shining with that bright light! It was so much fun to be able to document your joy, your love and your life together. I wish you nothing but the best in your lives ahead!

Boston Seaport Family Portrait Session Lindsay Hite Photography

As a family photographer, I have the unique opportunity to capture a moment in time for my clients. It’s nice, even for me to look back on those moments. That was the case with this family. On a fall morning, met up with this sweet family in the Boston Seaport District to make portraits with Chad, Michelle, their beautiful daughter, Nala and their sporty pup, Chechy. I love family portrait sessions, and this family brought so much magic to this family photo shoot. I’m so glad we got to capture it all on camera so they hold onto this for years to come!

Chad + Michelle’s Boston Seaport Family Portrait Session

Chad, Michelle and their family absolutely love a good day out on the town, seeing and experiencing all the city has to offer, so we did just that! They all make up such a beautiful family, and you can really tell how close and tight-knit they are through the photographs we took.

Nala is an adventurous little explorer and has such a vibrant imagination. It was so fun getting to see the world through her eyes. She loves having little conversations with everything in the world around her, from the ladybug on the sidewalk to her awesome dog, Chechy. And Chad and Michelle have such a beautiful way of encouraging Nala’s exploration and imagination. They like to ask her questions and engage in her imaginative stories during play time. For instance, when Nala was on the jungle gym, she turned it into a plane! Her parents hopped on board and Nala took over as the pilot, with Chad and Michelle as her passengers. She even guided everyone down to a safe landing!

Chechy, their dog, is a loyal and trusted companion for the family. He was on the lookout the whole time! But, he also brought that calming canine energy to the shoot. During the photo shoot, he was either chasing Nala or resting a bit while she played, keeping that ever-protective eye on her.

It brings me immense joy knowing that this lovely family will be able to hang on to these pictures forever. I hope Nala never runs out of her curiosity and joy, but most of all, I hope this family never runs out of that special little thing that makes them them. They are truly wonderful people and I wish them nothing but the best!

The State Room Boston Wedding Lindsay Hite Photography

Sometimes, as a wedding photographer, there’s one wedding that stays with you through the years. That was the case with Sarah and Justin’s elegant State Room wedding. Speaking with them on the phone leading up to the wedding, it was clear that the bonds that hold them to their friends and family are so strong that distance and time hold no power over these relationships. From the moment Sarah from Brilliant Event Planning introduced me to this couple and their families, I knew I was in for a treat. As you’ll see through these photographs, family and friends are everything to Sarah and Justin.

An Elegant Autumn Wedding at The State Room

Sarah and Justin’s pure excitement about getting married kept them and their entire bridal party warm during the portraits of a very sub-zero day in November. Looking back now, all I see is the warmth in their smiles, and laughter. From the very first moments at the Ames Hotel Boston, like when Sarah’s Mom, Beth, and sister Sharon saw her for the first time, and when the father of the bride, Larry, saw his little girl all grown up… The laughter between Sarah and Justin during their joyful first look… to their first dance as husband and wife to “You Send Me…” to the final moments of Sarah and her sister tearing up the dance floor… each beautiful moment was filled with love and laughter.

The importance of family and friends was so evident at their Old South Meeting House wedding ceremony. Sarah’s 90-year-old grandfather, who has been married to Sarah’s grandmother for more than 60 years, officiated their ceremony. “We thought, who better than someone who has been in a wonderful, loving marriage for that long,” Sarah shared. There were looks of pride and love from family and friends all throughout the day. It’s clear these two have many BIG fans.

It was so special sharing Sarah and Justin’s cinematic premiere across the country, and designing their beautiful linen bound album with them. But what I also loved just as much was a very special in person premiere with Sarah’s parents as Sarah and Justin were skyped in to enjoy reliving the day all over again, listening to her parents’ cheers and cries of joy as the slideshow played. Then, Sarah’s parents and I designed a gorgeous album just for them which was tailored around their experience and reliving the day from their perspective – so the photo choices were a bit different than Sarah and Justin’s.

I so enjoyed photographing this wedding, and was so pleased when it was recently featured in Boston Magazine. Justin and Sarah, congratulations again. I wish you so much continued happiness in your life together and I am so happy to share the beautiful photographs from your fall wedding at the State Room today!
