NYC at Home Family Portrait Session

On September 18, I met up with Vickie, Giacomo and their sweet baby boy, Rafi at their home in NYC’s Upper East Side. This at home family portrait session celebrated this family and all the joy that their son brings to their life.

I was so excited when Vickie reached out with the good news that they had moved back to NYC. And, what was even more exciting, they had an incredible new addition to the family, named Rafi! Vickie and Giacomo celebrated their wedding in Boston a few years ago. Their wedding day was filled with so much warmth. They were surrounded with love from their families and friends who gathered to celebrate their union from places all over the globe. Because a community says so much about where people come from, and who they become, I knew before I even walked in the door to their New York home that it would be a place of love, warmth and joy.

Vickie loves to see Rafi’s face light up when Giacomo walks in the room. And Giacomo agrees that they are basically twins. He loves to see Rafi experiencing the world for the first time. It’s safe to say, Rafi’s parents are his absolute biggest fans.

Giacomo also sees Vickie’s amazing strength as a mother. It’s truly incredible to see how much love he has in his eyes for both his son and the woman he married.

One of my favorite moments from the session was when Rafi got cozy on the bed, and Vickie and Giacomo came to cuddle with him. The simplicity of that moment, and the pure admiration in their expressions looking at him completely tell the story of what it’s all about. This is parenthood. It’s love, in its purest, simplest form. Moments like this remind me why I love being a photographer.

I absolutely love the album that Vickie and Giacomo designed. I can’t wait for Rafi to look through its pages, one day when he’s older, to see the foundations of his family and world grounded in love. I’m sure he’ll know, without a doubt, that he is so supported in life.
